Ever since I can remember, I have always wanted to travel and see our planet. My love of photography began after realizing I wanted to capture everything I saw on my journeys to share with everyone back home.
I first started taking pictures working with the world surfing tour (ASP) in 1995. While in Australia, I began asking questions of the tour’s photographers. Little did I know, it would become my passion beyond my daily work.
Living and working in sports medicine in Thousand Oaks, California, with my company Body Logic Sports Therapy, I still take every opportunity to work international events on professional sports tours, always piggy-backing a few extra days to go out to explore, hike and shoot. To me, the adventure and the challenge of finding a location and getting the shot are as rewarding as the picture itself. Some days, I will spend hours walking the streets of a city or climbing mountain ridges, anticipating where the light will be, and planning my next shot. Watching the light and shadows is paramount to determining the best time of day to shoot in any given location.
Thanks for checking out my pictures and some of the background behind the shot along with some interesting historical facts behind them (written by my love and writer-extraordinaire Lisa Burch).
